Aroostook Emergency Medical Services Region 5

Introduction & About Us:

            Aroostook Region 5 EMS has a long history of providing EMS support to Ambulance Services, Hospitals, Law Enforcement and Fire Agencies. We have also expanded our services to include support for EMD/PSAP call centers, local & regional public health, as well as working relationships with Emergency Management/Disaster response teams. Aroostook Region 5 EMS is also home to the Region 5 BLS Training Center. Region is able to provided classes to individuals at the BLS Level.

            We regularly attend the following meetings: Maine EMS Operations Team, Maine State Board of EMS, MEMS Q/A, Education, TAC, MDPB, Exam Committees, County EMA, LEPC, IMAT, Aroostook County Fire Chief's Assoc, DCC, Healthy Maine Partnerships, Aroostook Domestic Violence Taskforce, Northeast Maine Regional Resource Ctr, & County Health Emergency Planning Committee.

Aroostook Region 5 EMS also provides the following service listed below

Ambulance Member Services:

*Approve, coordinate and conduct continuing education including credit audits and certification for MEMS.

*Participate in localPSE Exams/Testing

* Coordinate all Quality Improvement Programs

* Provide "on site" training equipment free of charge, including delivery.

* Provide EMS Representation at Statewide & local meeting to advocate for EMS providers.

* CISD Debriefings & Defusing

Hospital Member Services:

* Provide pre-hospital continuing education and quality assurance programs.

* Provide and maintain a multi tower communication network for "on scene" pre-hospital interaction with medical control.

* Assist and co-sponsor specialty programs such as "Heartsafe Communities", CPR Education, and Stroke Prevention.

* Provide data from the MEMS Electronic Run Reporting System.

* Provide "on site" training equipment free of charge, including delivery.

* Pandemic Preparedness & MCI Plan Development.

* No Cost "Occurrence Reporting including Consultation with the Reg. Medical Director.

EMD Member Services:

* Approve, coordinate, and conduct continuing education including credit audits and certification for MEMS.

* Participate in Q/A & Q/I activities.

* CISD Debriefings & Defusing

General Public Services:

* Maintain AED Network via "At Cost" AED Purchase Program.

* Distribute Safety Programs and Equipment to Aroostook County Children.

* Provide "low cost" CPR equipment for schools & businesses.

* Administer BLS Licensure Coursers as the areas premier MEMS Training Center.


  EMT & Fire Service Services:

* Provide "no cost" faxing, copying, & Notary Public Services for Public Safety Members.

* Provide Video Library for training support.

* Distribute MEMS Protocol Treatment Books.

* Individual CEH Audits & Licensing Assistance.

* Technical Support for Operational Issues.

Maine EMS Contract Services:

* Participation & Data reporting of CDC Grant Funding.

* Regional Coordination for licensed EMS Services.

* Annual fiscal report with statistical data for Region 5.

* Quarterly submission of "Q/A data" for MEMS.

* Pre-Hospital Treatment Protocol Education.

* Participate in H1N! activities.

* Participation in Operations Team conference calls.

* Monthly attendance of Q/A, Exam, Education, Operations, MDPB, & State Board Meetings.

* Quarterly participation in Region Wide trainings.

 Other Services:

* Moulaging Services (Mock Disaster)

* Participation in Annual MEMA Disaster Exercises.

* Participation in Pandemic Preparedness activities.

* DefibTech AED Product Distributor.

* American Heart Association Product Distributor.

* Participation in STEMI Project.

* Maine CDC Cardiovascular Heart Program Participant 

* Loring Job Corps CIC Member

* Pediatric Team Activities

* Participant in school CPR education & Tommy Trauma programs.

* Participant in Annual MEMS Awards Program
